ATSA – the end of an era By David Smith from Smithink on Nov 13, 2017

ATSA - the end of an era

As you may be aware, following the completion of ATSA 2017 we sold the event to National Media, the owners of the Accounting Business Expo.

It has been most satisfying the see ATSA grow from a handful of exhibitors and about 100 people in 2007 to over 70 exhibitors and 800 attendees in 2017. The impact of technology on the profession brought about by the cloud has spurned a broad array of new suppliers, new applications and more importantly new ways of thinking. It’s an exciting time to be in practice to leverage the innovation that is happening.

I hope that ATSA has been able to play its part in stimulating the use of technology in accounting practices. I’m sure that the Accounting Business Expo will continue to innovate in bringing technology suppliers and practitioners together. To find out more about Accounting Business Expo visit www.accountingbusiness.com.au.

ATSA would never have been possible without the support of the technology industry as well as accountants in practice. In particular, I would like to thank MYOB and their CEO, Tim Reed, for his support over the entire 11 years with MYOB being our principle partner every year. I would also like to thank the many other exhibitors who participated in ATSA over many years. The support is very much appreciated. Finally, to the numerous accountants in practice who attended the event – thank you. Your support is the reason why ATSA continued to flourish. I hope in some small way ATSA helps you map a path for your firm as you sought to harness the new technologies.

So it’s the end of an era but not the end. Mark Holton and I continue to conduct our smaller workshops and conferences such as our Business Advisory Conference in February, we continue to speak at firm conferences and retreats and we continue to work individually with firms to improve their practices. If you’re interested in how we can help your firm we’d be pleased to talk to you.

Thanks again for all your support of ATSA over the many years.
